How much salary do you need to survive, live a good life and having a family in KL

Yesterday i posted this picture on facebook. 

This is somehow true if a man with RM3000 salary want to live in KL and having a family with his wife not working.

Lets do some plus and minus work here with different situation and with minimum amount.

Situation 1: You are single, with no boyfriend or girlfriend, no expense or anything.

Food: RM350 (RM11-12/day)

Transport: RM100 (Go to work, go to shopping mall also included)

Entertainment: RM50 (Watch one movie and eat one meal already finish)

Living: RM200 (Either renting room or living with family also need some expenses)

Telephone: RM50 (This is minimum, if you have data plan is even more expensive)

Miscellaneous: RM100 (Things like tissue paper, snacks, instant noodles)

Total: RM850

So to survive in KL actually is not that hard if you are not having any life....If you have salary of RM1000, you can survive.....remember, SURVIVE only. Not living a normal life. 

Situation 2: You are single, with no boyfriend or girlfriend, living some normal life and having some commitment.

Food: RM450 (RM15/day, each meal RM5, is counted as less)

Car: RM450 (Viva or second hand car only?)

Oil + car maintenance: RM200 (If you only drive to work, ya)

Entertainment: RM150 (Sing K, movie, clubbing once then gone already)

Living: RM400 (with wifi + utility)

Telephone: RM100 (Smartphone + bill, i think still not enough)

Miscellaneous: RM100 (I think should be enough)

Total: RM1750

So in short, if you want to have somehow a bit of good life, RM2000 salary should be suffice. Wait, its not including your saving, the money you give to your parent.... Then make it RM2500 should be ok.

Situation 3: You have a bf or gf, living separately and having some commitment

Food: RM600 (sometimes you need to pay for her/him or eating together should eat at some better restaurant)

Car: RM450 (Still Viva or second hand car only?)

Oil + maintenance: RM250 (Have gf or bf need to travel more often)

Entertainment: RM250 (When you have gf or bf around, you tend to spend more than normal)

Living: RM400 (with wifi + utility)

Telephone: RM150 (Bill sure up because you need to call him/her more often)

Miscellaneous: RM150 (Having gf or bf will increase miscellaneous fee, you will know when you have one) 

Total: RM2450

Yeah, if you have some extra money to give to parents and save some so you can buy house in future, you will need about RM3500 gross salary. Oh my god, how many people have that amount of money.... 

And i don't dare to continue to study about this. But lets have one last studies for a family that has 1 kid, with the couple both working.

Situation 4: Wife and husband both working, have one kid

Food: RM1200 (Everyday eat outside, should be around this price for combined amount of 3 people including the kid)

Car: RM1000 (Need 2 cars if both got work)

Oil + maintenance: RM700 (Work, go shopping, fetch son to work and tuition

Entertainment: RM400 (Family day each weekend will cost a lot)

Living: RM1000 (Low cost apartment?)

Kid pocket money: RM150 (one day RM5)

Kid tuition: RM200 (Should be around this price)

Utility cost: RM350 (Yeah, around this cost if you have air cond and unifi at home)

Miscellaneous: RM300 (Increased amount of people using will cost the things to finish faster)

Total: RM5300

Savings, give money to parents, if you have insurance, and its not including milk powder. You need to have about RM7K combined salary to live properly. Needless to say to live a good life, you need at least RM8-10k.
