2014 last post and 2015 resolutions

2014 almost end. Remember exactly when I wrote the same post last year. There are so much things to gratitude for in this year. It's all related to each other, but it's always easier to read in bullet form. So yeah

1. I gratitude for the new job and position that I have. Senior Web Application Developer with a new salary that is much higher than the one I had before. I also gratitude for my early confirmation. I felt blessed and appreciated because the company confirmed me half month earlier than my original confirmation period.

2. I also gratitude for having a good and caring cell group that always be there for all of us when we needed. They are indeed a very caring and friendly group of people which makes me feel that I am a part of the family.

3. I am grateful for being able to serve in church as much as I can. I served as guitarist, vocalist, sharing idea and also a lot of different position that required a lot of practise and rehearsal especially in the Christmas Musical lately.

4. I am grateful for falling in love with 2 girls. First one is around February and another one start around August. Even though both confession failed, I still feel grateful because both of them are still my good friend. I can now handle relationship in a better way already unlike the girl that I like in the past 2 years, I had totally lost contact with them.

Lets discuss if I have achieved the resolution that I made last year.

1. I failed to get the amount of salary I want. I guess it was too high for what I want.

2. Diet and reduce my weight. I think i failed for this one too.

3. Maintain my health and skin condition, i think this one is ok. Achieved.

4. Have 20k savings and buy house in 2015. Failed and hopefully can success for the second part of the resolution.

5. Vacation to few more places that I never been to. I think this one is succeeded. I went to Singapore for few times. 

6. Setting up my own website. Failed for this one.

So here is the resolution for 2015 and some of the resolution is continuous from 2014. Let see

1. Be closer to God

2. I hope to earn more than 5k/month

3.. I want to diet and reduce my weight. Seriously for this time.

4. Setting up a website. Seriously for this time.

5. Vacation to Korea, Thailand or Japan. At least one of these place.

6. Buy a house.

7. Hopefully get a girlfriend that will be blessed by God.

I hope all these resolutions can come true next year. Will need to start working for some of it now.

2014 Christmas Post

It has been quite some time since my last post in my blog. Feeling like I had totally ignored it but nope. I will still visit it from time to time. Who knows maybe someday, there might be a lot of people coming to visit my blog to read my story. 

I had been quite busy lately for a lot of church activities. A lot of Christmas Caroling is going on that day. I had to practise non stop for it.

Few successful events that had been going on is Christmas Caroling in the company, Christmas Musical at Grace Convention Centre, and also Christmas Caroling at Tropicana City Mall. I really like all the experience. Now the only thing left it the Praise and Worship at Melissa's wedding. Melissa is an Assistant Manager of Audio Composer of Creative Team in Inmagine. I feel grateful for everything.

Simple Singapore trip guide.

I went to Singapore with my brothers last weekend. I better write down everything when the memory is still fresh.

So we booked the Universal Studio ticket online with  SGD68. The promotion ongoing that time gave us free SGD5 meal voucher and SGD5 retail voucher. But the retail voucher can only be used when we spend more than SGD35 in USS.

We scan the ticket that we printed after we purchased it online. Then we can straight go in. So we know there will be a lot of people because its Saturday, so we went to buy express ticket. At their website, the price is SGD30 for limited express and SGD50 for unlimited but the price is dynamic. It changes according to the season. Saturday, of course will be slightly more expensive. We purchased limited express ticket that only allow us to go through Express Lane once for each game.

Basically, we spent almost 6-7 hours inside Universal Studio. Remember to catch some show that is available at the time of your visit. Your just need to look at the sign board, they will show you what show is available at what time.

Vivocity is the largest Singapore mall. So remember to take a walk inside, eat some food and also buy some candy.

So we planned to go Marina Bay. We find out, we need to get off at Bayfront MRT station to get there. So we went to Bayfront, and looking for the place. However, the weather is not siding us. The rain pour down and we need to get to shelter. So we go to find some food instead. Went to the cheapest place in Marina Bay for food. Looks like a food court but still serve a very delicious and pretty food.

We stay at Hotel 34 nearby Geylang. We just need to get off at Aljunied MRT station and then we need to walk for about 10 minutes...

Some simple guides if you are going to Singapore.

1. Download a MRT station map to your phone and planned out where you want to go before you reach Singapore.

2. If you are willing to spend, just go to 7-11 to get a Singapore mobile number and get a data plan. I used Singtel once and the internet speed is good enough.

3. If you want to speed up your way from MRT to MRT, get an EZ Link card. Top up accordingly and you can save up a lot of time because usually a lot of people lining up to buy the ticket for MRT.

Still not good enough.

Had been to a lot of successful interview and thought I am quite good already. But recently went to one interview and talked to the Boss. It's a new company that have a good marketing strategy that will probably earn a lot of money in future. I am quite interested to work there because of the bonus and quarterly reviewed salary. Not sure if I can be one of the developers there or not but after he asked me several question that I can't answer, i start to feel the world is so big. I am still so small.

Web development is not a field that I can slack after i achieve a certain level of reputation. After become Senior Web Developer, i feel i had been slowing down a lot in my work and everything. Even my skill improvement had been slowed down. When he asked me did I even heard of this and that website, i say no. Then feels like I am not exposed enough to all opportunity and chances of career. I might be good in what I am doing, but recently I had been involved in a lot of religion activity. I wont say this will cause me to slow down but everytime when I am looking forward to the religion activity, i kinda slow down in work. I hope i can fix this problem. I believe God will guide me.

Even though I said I can do web development, but I never really did host a website, setting up a server, setting up a framework and everything on my own. Everytime it is done by the team leader of the company. If I am going to go down this road, i must learn how to do this. Setting up a framework for web development shouldn't really be an issue since i did that before during interview in Singapore but still, i never really did that on my own. I hope i got the motivation to do that some day.

Religion activity really makes me happy everytime. I think I had decided which girl that I should go for. Let's give her more time to react on everything that I had done for her. Maybe I'm still not good enough for her but well, I hope God will arrange the best for both of us.

Blessed life.

When i first come to KL, i was struggling with a lot of things. Life, career, relationship and others. My time management is not so good at that time. It improved over time but still not to my satisfaction level. I guess i need more discipline in this.

I said that I have a blessed life because of everything that happen in my life. Brothers, friends, colleagues, career and all the fortunate events. I did face some challenges in life but if i think back now, it is really a good experience. I argued with friends, performed on stage, lead a group, fall in love, recognized at work, being offered a better job in other company, being offered to stay back in current company, travelled to foreign country for interview and working trial, go on holiday with loved one and so on. So many things happened and I will really say it is a enjoyable and memorable experience.

Everything will soon go to another level when I start my new job on 1 July 2014 in new company. I hope I will still be able to enjoy my life even if I already have some planning that might made me not able to enjoy as much as I do currently. Pray for the best.

Beginning of May, a good luck month.

I don't really believe in luck, even though i put the title as good luck month. I believe in hard work more.

So I went for an interview at this company called Inmagine. They gave me a test and i answered all of it. I saw my score which is 11/15. Not sure if it is a good results or not. So proceeding with the interview. The requirement for the senior position is 4 years experience and Degree in Computer Science or relevant field. 

I graduated in Diploma with 3 years 2 months experience. So after the interview, they said they will call me in one or 2 days. 

The next day, i received a call and the HR manager said she will offer me a Senior position. I am so happy and excited. I accepted and resigned my current position straight away. But I still need to serve 2 months in my current company.

I am really grateful because all my hard work seems like get paid off. Thank God for preparing such a good plan for me. I know God has the best plan for me. Not letting me to get the Singapore's job is also part of His plan.

Cheaper method to go from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore.

First method is the fastest way which is by flight. Cheapest ticket I have ever bought is RM65. Maybe there is even cheaper ticket.

 So for two ways will be around RM200 because the ticket from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur will be more expensive because it is in Singapore Dollar. Cheapest flight that I had ever bought is SGD45, around RM110. The travel time will be less than 1 hour. But the time u need to travel from your living place to airport will be roughly 1 hour if you are living in Kuala Lumpur or Selangor.

Second method is by bus. By bus, it will be around RM140 for 2 ways. For luxury bus will be even more expensive. The travel time is about 5 hours

Third method will be by KTM, keretapi tanah melayu, train. A very slow train. 2 ways is around RM68 if you take a normal seat. I bought one way seat with bed with RM40. The time needed is about 7-8 hours. I will suggest you buy the seat with bed and take the train at 10.30pm from KL Sentral so you can sleep all the way to Singapore and straight go to the place you wanted to.

Next plan.

Not much people will come to my blog, so i really can express my feeling here.

First of all, i just came back from an interview in Singapore. It went well, and i had been invited for working trial in that company. I am confident that I am able to mix into their environment well. The only problem left is the salary. I really hope they can offer me higher than what they had first told me. I will try to bargain again soon.

This KTM to Singapore from KL Sentral is really messed up. I never know what is going on. When we reached JB, they asked us to go down and pass through the immigration check first but end up don't know where to go. So I went to the route that everyone went and reach a bus stop. In the end, i take bus to Singapore.

So that is my next plan, to work in Singapore. This is the first company that I applied and it seems good. Not sure the others will contact me or not but if they did, no harm to try.

Valentine's Day

Today is Valentine's day. 

I am still single. Maybe will be double in relationship soon. Many things happened lately. I saw a lot of couples in facebook posting their happy couple outing picture. Even though i am single, i still feel happy for them. 

Last night, my friend gave me an advise, if you are having trouble to choose among few girls, choose the one you think you can stay with her for long term, not the one that is just playing around. After he said that, i straight away have someone in my mind. I believe she is the right one as God had given me some hint. Thanks God for blessing my life in these 2 years. 

Today is the exact 2 years that I broke up with my ex girlfriend. She had got married few months ago. I am happy for her and i give her my full blessing. I wish her all the best in her family, careers and health too. Our moment is short but it was fun and memorable.

Now, i do believe in one things. I don't want to fall in love with someone. I want to grow in love with someone. Everything that fall will shatter but everything that grow remains stable and firm. The love build around God as base is a very firm relationship. Nothing can break them. I saw a lot of many successful couple get married when they build the love relationship with God as their base. However, i won't deny that some people played with the girl in church because that's the place girl give their trust easily. They will thought everyone in church is trustable but in the end, there are still some people in church that will harm them and betray their trust.

Anyway, its a Valentine's Day. Happy Valentine's day to everyone who read my blogs. Wish the couples out there happy always and please treat each other better. Also wish the singles out there found their true love as soon as possible.

Home~

I searched for the definition of 'home'. It is the place where you live permanently or the place where you can get supervision and care. Then i can say my home is Petaling Jaya. I live in Petaling Jaya permanently and I basically didn't get special care or supervision from anyone.

I also searched for the definition of hometown. It's the place where you were born or the place you grow up.

So i can say my hometown is Sibu but definitely my home is Petaling Jaya now. I really like my home now. I don't mind if I don't have family here. I have a lot of friends that can give me almost the same feeling as family. Furthermore, my relatives in Bintulu will welcome us to go to their place anytime we want. Pretty much everything i needed right now can be fulfilled.

We (my brothers and I) visited my relatives house and stayed over there during the Chinese New Year. It felt more like a family than chinese new year with my dad only in Sibu. More people, more fun. It felt really good. However, the problem with my relatives is they started to ask about our girlfriend. My brothers and I, we are all single. Without knowing the reasons why we are still single, they started to say things like "i hope this year is the last time i give you ang pao" or "come come, eat the egg, then next year bring a girlfriend back here"

So now we are back to normal life. Girlfriend or not, i will just let it be natural. I don't want to force out things. 

Confused.

I don't know. Which one is more suitable? I hope God can hint me the right one. 

It's because i am confused with two of them. Both of them seems like the right one for me.

Anna in Assunta

My friend, Anna had been admitted to Assunta hospital 2 weeks back in and had an operation on last Monday. She had this water tumor (not sure if this is the correct term or not) that seems like not so serious but need to be removed. So i visited her in the hospital but she seems to be sleeping soundly, so i didn't disturb her sleep until she wake up on her own ... like about half hour after i reach.

Brought some fruits and brought a comic for her to read in case she is bored. Now she had go back to rest at her home. Hope she will be fine soon.

Dota 2 starter tips.

Few things that I always tell myself when I play dota 2. Wait for others to choose hero first because I will always try to balance the hero in the team so the team has at least 1 tanker, 1 initiator, 1 carry and 1 support. 

For those who wanted to win the game, you will need to learn how to use more heroes instead of 1 or 2 heroes only. If you only know how to use phantom assassin and spectre, then you are only playing as carry hero. Which mean if 2 or 3 of your teammate had chosen some other carry heroes like phantom lancer and stealth assassin, then it will be a very hard game if you are still using carry heroes. 

So for starter, here are some tips.

1. Play few games with bot to practice different type of heroes first. If you want to stick with one or two heroes only, i will suggest you try support or ganking hero. Most of the time will be intelligent hero like lina, lion and crystal maiden. Its because more players on steam are playing carry heroes.

2. If you died too much time but don't want to be scold "noob", then you should start buy ward and ward the map at some certain good location depending on how the game goes. If you are pushing the way in, try to ward at their jungle, if you had been pushed hard by enemy, you may want to ward your own jungle to avoid being ganked by enemy heroes.

3. Must have teleportation scroll in your item list. You may need to teleport immediately to your teammate when they are in trouble. Which mean, keep alert on where is your teammate and are they being chased by enemy hero.

4. If you are a support hero, don't scare to die to save the carry hero. But not throwing your life away in battle carelessly. Try to stall the enemy hero as long as possible until help arrive or until your carry hero get away successfully.

5. Denying creeps is very important in reducing enemy gold and lane control. Learn more about it. Will write a more detailed post about it soon.

6. Watch some youtube replay on how to combo your skill with other heroes on your own team. Sometimes the order of skill used will cause the whole game.
